Singersongwriter Veronique Van Pelt is pleased to present four other local artists on the rise through crafted and soulful composition, bellhoss, Michael Howard and Miles Wilder, at Laughing Goat Saturday August 4th.
Veronique Van Pelt is a freakishly prolific songwriter and advanced pop vocalist whose music has been featured on MTV and at NME.com. Her upcoming releases include a country EP featuring Lauren Michaels Band called Who Is Bette Southern? and an artpop album with producer Alex Scott under the collaborative name Nonesuch Palace, with Miles Wilder also producing and already in remix with Mr. Lang and Doct3r.
The night opens with a bang detonated by a girl and a guitar.
Michael Howard takes traditional songwriting to new levels, with soul as rare and common as Bob Dylan, and blazing technique and heart evocative of the front range wilds. Like in his debut album Impatiens, a tour de force of solo musicianship and scintillating lyricism, Howard crafts compositions which embody a refreshing update on the state of folk, drawing on influences from across America and the world, ranging from elegantly catchy to rich experimentation reminiscent of Beck.
Closing the night, a self-described transdimensional bard, Miles Wilder eschewed his classical training to develop a unique multi-instrumental loop system to present the absurdity of our reality set against strangely familiar melodies, in songs that are uniquely American and uniquely of no-place and every place. Recently returned from writing and singlehandedly performing a score for a critically acclaimed independent circus, Miles is currently in production to create a short film from his most recent EP Solstice.
This rapid fire night of top quality composition and musicianship will be jointly emcee’d by Veronique Van Pelt and Miles Wilder.
